Teachers at mainstream and special schools have found that a March Foundation Course provides the following:
Security
The Foundation takes enormous trouble to ensure that Teachers and the children in their charge work and play in a SAFE ENVIRONMENT. Teachers are asked to visit the nominated premises to carry out risk assessment and to acquaint themselves with the area. The sites are all secure and safe, conforming to all current school regulations.
We use a highly structured programme which calls for the involvement of each student.
We have noticed that this leads to a far higher standard of behaviour during these projects. They create a strong team spirit and give the teachers tighter control of their groups.
Reduced Workload
Each Project is split into six blocks. These are taken by our co-ordinators and team-leaders enabling teachers to stand back and see how each child reacts and participates. This ensures that teachers get the best out of the programme before, during and after the vists.
Results
Schools have found that this imaginative and reasonably structured approach to off-site educational visits produces results from children with learning difficulties which are way beyond their expectations. They become less disruptive and they start to focus on their own personal visions. Their approach to curriculum subjects is more confident. They become helpful members of their year group. Their successes make a positive contribution to the school's image in the community
